Aberdeen Zoning Code Update | 2023-2024
Project manager for top-to-bottom zoning code update, with an emphasis on housing affordability. The new code removes density per acre standards, allows middle housing in all residential zones, and reduces residential parking requirements. -
Tukwila Comprehensive Plan | 2023-2025
Project manager for this effort to support the city’s housing and land use comprehensive plan element and develop early concepts for middle housing. This project featured collaboration with the Black Home Initiative on inclusive engagement, which resulted in a policy brief targeted to local elected officials about regulatory reform for affordable homeownership. -
Burien Ambaum and Boulevard Park Community Plan, Comprehensive Plan, and Zoning Code Update | 2021-2024 (link)
As project manager I analyzed local conditions, planned and undertook community engagement activities, organized regular meetings with staff and led production of the final product for this community-centered subarea plan and planned action EIS that emphasized equitable transit-oriented development. The plan was incorporated into the comprehensive plan update and formed the backbone for a major update to the land use map. I also managed the subsequent citywide update to multifamily and mixed-use zoning to increase development potential. -
Spokane Centers and Corridors Update | 2023-2024
I was lead planner for this project to update Spokane’s Center and Corridor designations, zoning and design guidelines. We researched existing code, market conditions, and development outcomes and recommended updates to reduce barriers to development of walkable mixed-use development in desired areas. -
Department of Commerce Middle Housing Model Code and Guidebook | 2023-2024 (link)
I supported research and analysis, document drafting, client coordination, and stakeholder engagement for this state Department of Commerce guidebook and model code. -
Edmonds Highway 99 Community Renewal Area | 2022-2023
I was project manager for this effort to establish a community renewal area (RCW 35.81) along a problematic stretch of Highway 99 in Edmonds. This project led to city purchase of large private parcel for public-private redevelopment as a community center with housing and businesses. I researched tools like the community renewal law, TIF, and MFTE to recommend strategies to best achieve community goals. -
Bothell Canyon Park Subarea Plan | 2018-2020 (link)
As lead planner for this subarea plan and planned action EIS focused on transit-oriented redevelopment of a 80’s era office/industrial park I researched and potential development outcomes, developed informational materials and maps, produced reports, and helped organize complex interagency meetings and stakeholder review. -
Redmond Comprehensive Plan EIS | 2022 (link)
To support alternatives analysis for this comprehensive plan EIS I taught myself how to use ESRI’s parametric modeling software CityEngine to model development outcomes under different regulatory scenarios for three Redmond subareas. -
2023 WA-APA Conference: Local Air & Noise Pollution and Land Use Planning (link)
I organized a presentation with an all-star panel about the potential health impacts of siting sensitive uses and high-density housing too close to freeways and airport flight paths.
